Chandan Yatra Festival starts on Akshaya Tritiya day and runs for 21 days. Processional deities, all 5 Siva deities and Lord Jagannath-Madan Mohan will be taken out in a procession on the Grand Road of Puri at evening hours, The procession starts from the temple and ends after reaching Narendra tank. Sandalwood paste will be applied to idols after reaching the tank. This ritual is performed to reduce the summer heat effect on the deities. Later, cotton cheesecakes named Mandua will be offered for the deity.  Lastly, all the deities will go around the tank in a fully decorated boat.
