Narayan Nagbali Puja: Timings, Cost, and Procedure

Narayan Nagbali Puja at Trimbakeshwar. This pooja is meant for Pitra Dosha and Kala Sarpa Dosha Nivarana. Pooja will be performed only on specific days. The significance of this Pooja is stated in the Garuda Purana and the Skanda Purana.

Narayan Nagbali Puja Procedure

Day 1

1. One should shave their head before performing this ritual
2. Whoever is performing this ritual has to rinse their mouth with water from the Kushawart Ghat.
3. One should dress up in new clothes, pray to their ancestors, and get the blessings from the pundit.
4. Fill the copper vessel with water from the Kushwart Ghat and then have Darshan of Lord Trimbakeshwar.
5. Enter Dharmashala, which is located right next to the main temple.
6. The pundit will tie the Dharbha ring to the person who will be performing the ritual.
7. The pundit will set up five Kalasas (copper pots filled with water) around the Yagna place.
8. The male person has to offer 16 rice balls to the holy fire.
9. Then, five Pinda are offered to the five Kalasas, which mark five gods. During Pind Dhan, the female participant must maintain a slight distance.
10. Then rice will be placed in the leaves, and the cotton in the middle of the rice heap will be lit. Pundit will let you know where it should be placed.
11. Pundit prepares a miniature of a human body with coconut and wheat flour. Stone will be placed next to it.
12. The male person will now offer 5 Pindas to this statue.
13. Later, the male person will carry this human body and the stone to the cremation ground and burn the statue. He now has to go around the burning body in an anti-clockwise direction.
14. He needs to carry the stone back to Dharmashala. Water mixed with sesame seeds will be offered to this stone. 10 Pindas will be offered, followed by 8 more.
15. After completing this ritual, couples must bathe at Kushawart Ghat and return to their room wearing their wet clothes.
16. They need to dry these clothes, as they have to wear the same clothes for the second day.

Day 2

1. On the second day, the male person has to collect the ashes of the statue in a vessel and leave them in the river Ganga.
2. Pour milk, cow dung, and curd at the cremation place.
3. Then the male person has to bathe at the Kushawart Ghat.
4. Dry the clothes and reach the temple for Lord Siva Darshan.
5. Reach Dharmashala for the second process. The pundit will tie the ring made out of Dharba to the male person again.
6. The male will now offer Pinda Dhan by facing the south direction. In total, 16 Pindas will be offered. The pundit will go through the remaining processes on the second day.

Day 3

1. Kala Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Pooja will be performed on the third day.
2. One has to dress up in new clothes. Clothes used for the last two days should be discarded and thrown away.

Narayan Nagbali Puja Rules and Regulations

1. Pooja should not be performed on Grahan days, Ekadasi, Ashtami, or Dasami.
2. One should not visit any other temples after this pooja.
