Distance from Foot of the hills to Top: 8 km. 20 mins by Car to reach Hilltop.

Distance from Chikkaballapura to Nandi Hills Entrance: 6.5 km

Distance from Bangalore to Nandi Hills Entrance: 54.5 km

During Chola period this hills called by Anandagiri. This hill was developed by Chikkaballapura rulers, later by Haidar Ali and Tippu Sultan.

 

Interesting places at Nandi Hill

Sunrise and Sunset View

One should not miss Sunrise view at 6:00 am and Sunset view at 5:45 pm. This is the best time for the photography.

Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple

Temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. Temple is located in the foothills.   The “Bhoga Nandeeshwara” shrine located in the North was built during the reign of Banas in 9th Century AD, later renovated by Cholas in 11th century AD, Hoyasalas and Vijayanagara Emperors.

Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple

It is believed that Yoga Nandeeshwara performed penance on this hill. This temple was built during the reign of Cholas. There will not be any Poojas at this temple.

Amrita Sarovar

Temple Tank called by Amrita Sarovar. Where Amrita means Nectar, Sarovar means Pond. Water never dries in this tank. Tourists can spend their time in the Park surrounding the tank. 

Tippu Sultan fort

Haidar Ali started the fort construction later completed the work by Tippu Sultan. The fort called by Nandi Durga. The fort was built on 90 acres of land and is 4851 feet above the sea level.

Tippu Drop

Tippu used to implement death punishment by dropping Priosers from this point.

Birth of Palar River

River Palar takes its birth on the eastern of the Nandi Hills.

Birth of River Arkavati

Origin of River Arkavati lies on the South-West of the Nandi Hills.

Secret Passage

It is said that this Passage was built for King’s rescue. Kings can safely leave the place during critical times.

Nehru Nilaya (Cubbon House)

Jawaharlal Nehru used to stay at this guesthouse which was built by Lord Cubbon for his stay.

Bengaluru to Bellary road

Devanahalli Cross at 36th milestone on the Bangalore – Bellary Highway.

Take deviation on the Left at the Cross. From Devanahalli Cross, it is 11 km to Nandi Cross.

From Nandi Cross it is 3 km to the foot of the hills.

From foot of the hills, it is 8 km to reach the top.
