Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri is an ancient vaishnavite shrine. Here, Goddess Lakshmi sits on the left thigh and faces towards Lakshmi Narayana Swamy.

It is unique temple with Pushkarini and Nakstravana. All the 27 stars have unique plants planted separately. Where one can see Stars ( Nakshatras) and relevant trees.

Vepanjeri is of 3 words Vem+ Pancha + Hari. In Sanskrit, Vem means Sins, Pancha means Five and Hari means that removes; a sacred place where it removes five sins. In course of time, Vem pancha hari became Vepanjeri.

Interesting part of this temple is, that Asta Lakshmi Temples were built in a lotus structure, surrounding Lakshmi Naryana Swamy Temple and Kubera Lakshmi Temple.

Another interesting view, A statue near temple, which is of 21 feet tall, sculpted in a single stone depicted with the 10 incarnations of Lord Maha vishnu.

Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepanjeri History

Ruler of Thonda mandalam ( Region which is east to chittoor), who is a devotee of Lakshmi Narayana swamy, planned to construct a temple to The Lord. One fine day,  god in the form light appeared in his dream and instructed him that he is in Valmikam ( in Sanskrit Valmikam means Ant-hill) and the directions to the Valmikam.

In the year 1780, Kumandu Srinivasa Iyangar did the required financing in building the temple, later surrendered his entire property to the temple, to support Nithya Kainkaryam and Abhishekam.

In the year 1986, temple was renovated again, from then on , Abhishekam, Nithya Kainkaryams, Brahmotsavam are regularly conducted at regular intervals.

How to reach Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple Vepancheri?

Vepanjeri is 15 km away from Chittoor via Thana (check post) and GD Nellore.
From Chittoor bus station, buses to Vepancheri operates from Platform No. 17, bus is available at every 30 mins and last bus is at 9:30 pm.

Share autos do run to this place. For Private hire, Autorickshaw will charge Rs.150 for one way from Chittoor bus station.

From Tirupati it is 75 Km to Vepanjeri via Gangadhar Nellore. Another route is at 85 Km, via chittoor and Gangadhar Nellore.

Direct bus available from From Bangalore to Balijakandriga.

Temple Timings: 5 am  – 8 pm

Abhishekam to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy will be performed on every Wednesday at 8 a.m.
