Chaturdasa Visesha Puja

NELLORE, AUGUST 10: On Monday after second bell the utsava vigraha is brought to the special platform for ‘Chaturdasa  visesha puja’, special ritual  performed with 14 kalasas.

After seeking the permission of Sri Malayappa Swami, ankurarpana and punyaha vachanam have been rendered by archakas. The Panchasukatas including Sri,Bhu, Nila, Purusha and Narayana Suktas were recited and Tirumanjanam is performed to the utsava murtis.

Seven vessels out of fourteen vessels with gingerly oil, Milk, Curd, Ghee, Akshatas (holy grains of rice), Darbha and Panchagavya were offered during Abhishekam. The remaining seven vessels contain Sudhodaka(Pure Water).

Abhisheka Harati was offered to mark the culmination of the seva. Purnahuti was later offered to herald the conclusion of the homa. Naivedya was then offered to God.

Meanwhile Visesha Pooja was started by TTD on April 8, 1991 and then after it became as Arjitha Seva which will be exclusively observed on every Monday in Tirumala Shrine. The same Seva was performed on Monday as a part of the ongoing Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams in Nellore.
